The majority of IT professionals said their organization has been satisfied with Windows 10 since adopting it, according to a recent survey from Spiceworks. Since its release in July 2015, more than 300 million devices have implemented Windows 10, drawn to the operating system’s free upgrades, improved performance and new features. Among the most popular features: enhanced security, faster upgrades, better cloud integration and, of course, the return of the popular “start” menu. Positive sentiments about Windows 10, in fact, are inspiring tech departments to invest in products such as the Microsoft Surface Pro and Surface Book. “Since its release in July 2015, (Windows 10 has) enjoyed positive reviews and an adoption rate much higher than Windows 7 and Windows 8 in a similar timeframe,” according to the survey report, titled “Windows 10 Adoption: Sprinting Out the Gate.” “It’s easily outpacing all previous versions of Windows, which should come as no surprise. After all, Windows 10 is a well-regarded thoroughbred boasting increased speed, stamina and two big crowd-pleasers: a free upgrade and the return of the much-loved start menu … The OS still has a few hurdles to clear — namely compatibility issues, time-intensive upgrades and concerns about the amount of control IT teams have over upgrades.” Nearly 900 global IT pros took part in the research.
